What is Chakra Cleansing? Let’s understand what chakras are first. In Sanskrit, the word “chakra” means “wheel” and refers to the energy centers in your body. These wheels or discs of spinning energy each correspond to certain nerve bundles and major organs responsible for physical, emotional and mental functioning. There are seven main chakras running along your spine. They start at the root, or base, of the spine and extend to the top of the head. Some people believe there are at least 114 different chakras in the body. The seven chakras from the base of the spine to the top of the head are:

  • Root Chakra: Located at the base of the spine, this chakra is associated with survival, grounding, and stability.
  • Sacral Chakra: This chakra is located in the lower abdomen and is associated with creativity, sexuality, and emotional balance.
  • Solar Plexus Chakra: Located in the upper abdomen, this chakra is associated with personal strength, will, and self-esteem.
  • Heart Chakra: Located in the center of the chest, this chakra is associated with love, compassion, and emotional healing.
  • Throat Chakra: This chakra is located in the throat and is associated with communication, self-expression and creativity.
  • Third Eye Chakra: Located between the eyebrows, this chakra is associated with intuition, insight, and spiritual awareness.
  • Crown Chakra: Located at the top of the head, this chakra is associated with higher consciousness, divine connection, and spiritual enlightenment.

In order to function optimally, the sound vibrations of various musical instruments, such as singing bowls, can be used to open blocked chakras for you. Your chakras need to stay open or balanced. If they are blocked, you may experience physical or emotional symptoms associated with specific chakras.
